In January 2025, students, faculty and staff were welcomed into the Clayton University Center at Packer Hall, the beautifully reimagined heart of the campus community. Packer Hall, built in 1868 and last renovated in the 1950s, has long been a campus landmark. The revitalized space preserves the historic nature of the building while serving as a vibrant hub for all members of the community and has become central to the student experience.
Now a dynamic center for activity, connection and collaboration, the Clayton University Center is open 24 hours a day for the Lehigh community to enjoy and utilize. The building is home to several new gathering spaces including the Club Hub where Lehigh clubs and organizations meet, Great Room that’s outfitted with lounge areas and table tennis and pool tables, the conference-style Harmon Boardroom, refreshed office spaces and the outdoor Pan Family Fire Pit. These spaces support academic and professional growth while enhancing the social and collaborative experiences that make the Clayton University Center a thriving hub of community.
Additional enhancements include several fresh dining venues like the Lehigh Pub, a unique European-inspired bistro offering full lunch and dinner menus, and amenities such as the convenience store Clutch and Go.
During Founder’s Weekend in October 2025, Lehigh dedicated the renovated Clayton University Center and honored the generosity of all who made it possible, including namesake donors Kevin L. Clayton ’84 P’13 and Lisa A. Clayton P’13. The reopening reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening the sense of community and connection within the walls of the Clayton University Center for years to come.
