A new civil engineering course led by Massimo Toso, Buzzi Unicem USA chairman and industry veteran, gave students a close-up view of quarry blasting, kiln operations and the science and engineering behind cement production with a visit to Buzzi Unicem USA’s Stockertown Cement Plant.
Buzzi Unicem USA is one of the nation’s leading producers of cement, operating seven plants and 34 distribution terminals and employing more than 1,400 people. The company also supports Lehigh research focused on improving the carbon footprint of cement manufacturing.
