As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the workplace, the Vistex Institute for Executive Learning & Research at Lehigh has created two new online courses that address the new challenges of leading a remote workforce and managing employees in a virtual world.

Virtual Leadership: Essential Skills for Leading a Hybrid and Remote Workforce, Now and Post-COVID will run online June 10 and June 24 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The live programming sessions will be taught by Sacha Connor '00, a remote work pioneer for The Clorox Company whose clients include Toyota, Beam Suntory, Cigna and Gilead.

Project Management Foundations: Managing in a Virtual World will run online June 22 and June 23, and June 29 and June 30, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The live sessions will allow participants to engage with others in the course and to share experiences and challenges. The course will be led by John Juzbasich, a partner at Merit Career Development. His business experience includes a successful career at IBM and a variety of high technology firms.

“Our online programs have been selected to address issues currently affecting working professionals,” said Alison McGrath Peirce, executive director of the Vistex Institute. “The content is designed to fit with the flow of work, with brief assignments between each class to foster application back on the job.”

The Virtual Leadership course will address how to set team expectations, communicate effectively and lead efficient meetings, all virtually. It also will address how to take a strategic approach to influence key stakeholders in taking action on the person’s ideas. More information can be found here.

The Project Management Foundations Course will use a two-pronged approach to help participants succeed in their positions. Through case studies and exercises, participants will explore why projects fail and learn to spot potential pitfalls before they derail a project. Participants will explore case studies and receive tools that can be immediately implemented. More information can be found here.
