Georgette Phillips Reappointed Dean of College of Business and Economics

Georgette Chapman Phillips, the Kevin L. and Lisa A. Clayton Dean of the College of Business and Economics, now in her the fifth year of her initial appointment as dean, has been reappointed for five years.

Phillips, who joined Lehigh in 2014, had clear directives in joining the College of Business and Economics—raise its stature, visibility and prestige. Under Phillips, CBE has expanded undergraduate and graduate curricular and programmatic offerings. One year into her tenure, the college also debuted an executive education program, which was renamed the Vistex Institute for Executive Learning and Research in 2017.

"As an internationally sought-after scholar and speaker, Dean Phillips personally serves as an effective ambassador for her college and Lehigh, and I appreciate her considerable contributions to our shared mission of teaching, research and service." Provost Patrick V. Farrell wrote in an email announcing Phillips' reappointment. "I expect her positive impact will only increase in the future."

A major revision of the undergraduate curriculum included the creation of a new interdisciplinary minor (FinTech) and new certificate programs in international business and data analytics. Joining LEAD—a national program for rising high school seniors from diverse backgrounds—has helped increase diversity in the undergraduate population.

In the graduate program, the college welcomed its first cohort of M2, the first college-wide graduate program since the inception of the MBA, in 2015 and launched its 1-MBA program in 2017.
