Lehigh University has been recognized as one of the nation’s top institutions for long-term career success, earning the No. 17 spot on LinkedIn’s inaugural college rankings: The 50 Best Colleges for Long-Term Career Success in the U.S.
Choosing to attend college and selecting a university are important decisions students and their families make. As tuition costs increase and the job market evolves, investing wisely in higher education has become increasingly critical for many families.
LinkedIn addressed this with their debut rankings, which assess the universities that best deliver on student outcomes. The rankings, culled from outcomes and career trajectory data from LinkedIn’s vast professional network, are designed to measure the real-world impact of a college education over time.
According to LinkedIn, the methodology considered alumni career growth, promotions and advancement into leadership roles, and networking opportunities across industries, using millions of data points from active user profiles.
The rankings measured U.S. colleges and universities on five pillars: job placements, internships and recruiter demand, career success, network strength and knowledge breadth. To be eligible, universities must be U.S.-based, regionally accredited four-year baccalaureate programs that are actively enrolling first-year students and have at least 2,000 total alumni, among other criteria.
It also included top industries and locations for each ranked college or university, which measured the most common industries and locations associated with a member’s first job position after graduating. According to the rankings, Lehigh’s top industries are technology and internet, accounting and financial markets, and the top locations are New York City, Philadelphia and Boston.
