Their four years of hard work paid off on May 24 as Army ROTC students marched across the stage in Packer Memorial Church to officially become lieutenants during the Steel Battalion Commissioning ceremony.
ROTC—the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps—is a college-based program for training commissioned officers of the United States armed forces. The Steel Battalion was established at Lehigh in 1919 and is made up of 11 colleges and universities throughout the Lehigh Valley. Its headquarters are in Jordan Hall at the Mountaintop campus.
Twenty students from Lehigh, Moravian and Kutztown Universities were commissioned:
