Squawk captures your online posts and reflections, in response to questions or fill-in-the-blank statements posted on Lehigh’s Alumni Facebook Page and our other social media channels.

Before the publication of each issue, we will seek your comments on a new post about life at Lehigh–or seek your advice for new graduates or incoming students.

This time, we asked for your favorite Lehigh Football memory.

Here are some of your responses:

"Every time we beat Lafayette."
Casey Evans ’76

"Tailgating outside Taylor 1986, freshman year. It was BEYOND cold…So grateful we went in spite of the temp. … Lived Lower Cents so it was right there. It was a fantastic welcome to Lehigh/Lafayette."
Lynette Cafaro Bavaro ’90

"The last game at Taylor was 1987, my senior year. Couldn’t feel below my knees by halftime. Beer froze in the can before you could finish it."
Jill Holzer Carter ’88

"Prized possession–a piece of the goal post from the 1979 game."
Alex Matturri ’80

"My freshman year I covered the games for The Brown and White as a photographer on the sidelines. In doing so, I developed a rapport with a seemingly friendly Bethlehem city cop. At the Lafayette game, just as it was inevitable that the goal posts were soon to come down, he looked at me and told me to take the bandanna out of my pocket and tie it around my face. I inquired why, and he said just do it. At that point he ran out on the field and sprayed mace at the students. While that was repugnant, I got some wonderful photographs."
Barry J. Glickman ’79

"Freshman year (1997), ran onto the field at the end of the Lehigh-Lafayette game, although no one tore down the goalposts. A picture of Rabih Abdullah (who was later drafted into the NFL) holding up a trophy was widely circulated (at least relatively speaking, before social media) and I'm also in the picture, standing next to him."
Paul Bonomi ’01

"2009, Goodman Stadium; game in OT. Lehigh intercepts Lafayette’s pass play to seal a win. Pandemonium ensues; everyone rushes the field. Great game, even better memories."
Juan C. Rodriguez ’06 G

"1995 OT win over Lafayette!"
Bryan Fecteau ’98

"Bryan Fecteau Yep, that’s the one. Brian Klingerman catch in the dark to win it."
Joe Tittermary ’98

"I was in the [Marching] 97 in the old days so my favorite memory is marching down from Lamberton in “two long lines,” forming on the sidelines, and ending our pre-game show with a rousing rendition of Lehigh Fight."
George VanDoren ’69 ’70G
