In just two years, Olivia Abrams ’21 has made a big splash with TiCK MiTT, a tick-removing glove that can be used on people and pets.

Already featured nationally on “Good Morning America” and “The View," Abrams recently was named to the 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Impact list for TiCK MiTT, won Product of the Year at Outdoor Retailer and Outdoor Design + Innovation's Summer 2024 show and appeared on ABC's hit show Shark Tank on May 16.

Abrams was featured as an entrepreneur on Shark Tank, a reality show in which entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to five sharks in hopes of getting one to invest in their idea, with her father, Steve, and they asked for an investment of $250,000 for a 10% stake in the TiCK MiTT company.

While a few of the sharks weren't interested - one due to a conflict of interest with one of her own companies - Barbara Corcoran offered $250,000 for a 30% stake and Kevin O' Leary's final offer was $250,000 for a 20% stake plus $1 for every unit sold until he received $2 million in return.

Abrams and her father didn't feel the offers were right for them and ultimately declined.

“We really do understand what we have and we have the ability to move it forward without them," Steve Abrams said on the show after declining both offers. “So giving away that much at this point just did not make sense for us.”

Despite not reaching a deal, multiple sharks praised TiCK MiTT, including O'Leary.

“I believe you are the tick kings," O'Leary said. “I really believe that.”

Abrams followed up Friday's show with an appearance on Good Day Philadelphia, garnering more positive press and momentum for TiCK MiTT. Good Day Philadelphia aired highlights of the Shark Tank episode and interviewed Abrams during an approximately six-minute segment. Abrams gave Lehigh a shoutout on the morning show, mentioning that she studied entrepreneurship at the university, and said TiCK MiTT has tripled in sales since they went on Shark Tank.

While Abrams was a student at Lehigh in 2018, she and her father began working with a tick scientist to develop a tick-removing glove, and TiCK MiTT was officially launched in March 2023.

The glove is made of scientifically engineered microfiber that works like Velcro to easily remove ticks, then is placed in a mesh bag in the dryer, where the heat kills the ticks. TiCK MiTT can be purchased on TickMitt.com and Amazon.
