Michael Layden, associate professor of biological sciences, leads a team of researchers who have been working for years to better understand the neural development of nematostella vectensis—a simple cnidarian creature also known as the Starlet Sea Anemone.

That's a key step in the understanding of how the brain evolved.

In August, Lehigh will host a Cnidofest workshop, which will bring researchers from related fields to Lehigh to learn more about working with these amazing little creatures.
