The 2025 cohort comprises 162 academic inventors representing 64 National Academy of Inventors member institutions across the United States.

Several Lehigh University professors from P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science and the College of Arts and Sciences have been named senior members of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

Senior members of NAI are active faculty, scientists and administrators with success in patents, licensing and commercialization and have produced technologies that have brought or aspire to bring real impact on the welfare of society, according to the NAI website.

The following faculty have been named senior members of the NAI:

  • Jonas Baltrusaitis, associate professor, chemical and biomolecular engineering.
  • Xuanhong Cheng, professor, bioengineering and materials science and engineering.
  • Siddha Pimputkar, associate professor, materials science and engineering.
  • Yahong Rosa Zheng, professor, electrical and computer engineering.
  • Volkmar Dierolf, professor chair of the physics department with a joint appointment in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in Rossin.
  • Xiaoji Xu, associate professor of chemistry.
