Lehigh began welcoming its Class of 2024 this week, with first-year students who chose to come to campus for the Fall semester arriving at the university and moving into their dorms.
A Lehigh tradition, Move-in has a different look and feel this fall, as will many of Lehigh’s treasured traditions, with the university putting new procedures and protocols in place to help keep the Lehigh community healthy and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Usually a one-day event with much fanfare, Move-in for first-year students is taking place over three days. To help maintain social distancing, students in cloth face masks arrived with their families at their assigned times to unpack their belongings in three-hour windows.
Lehigh also is reminding students on campus and in the South Bethlehem neighborhoods to maintain social distancing at all times, wear a mask, avoid large gatherings including off-campus parties, wash hands frequently and stay home if sick. Students also must complete a daily self-assessment via the HawkWatch app. More information about the Fall 2020 semester can be found at the university’s COVID-19 Information Center.
