Mary Ellen Alu is director of editorial services in the Office of Communications and Public Affairs. She is editor of the Lehigh Alumni Bulletin, published three times a year; and she has played a key role in other publications, including the College of Education’s Theory to Practice magazine and Lehigh Business, the annual magazine of the College of Business. She also writes and edits for Lehigh’s online news sites.

Alu joined Lehigh’s communications office in 2014 after a lengthy career in journalism. She worked as an editor for AOL’s online news service, Patch; as an editor and reporter for The Morning Call daily newspaper in Allentown, Pa.; and as a reporter for The Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She holds a Masters of Liberal Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from Wilkes College (now University). She is the recipient of numerous writing and reporting awards.

Alu is a former co-president and board member of Families with Children from China – Lehigh Valley Chapter. She also served as an assistant troop leader for Girl Scout Troop 6008 based at St. Thomas More in Salisbury Township, Pa.
