Dear Members of the Lehigh Community,
I’m pleased to announce the launch of a new program, Compelling Perspectives presented by Lehigh University. The goal of the program is to create a visible forum at Lehigh for fostering discussions across differing perspectives on issues of critical and societal importance.
Our first topic will be national security, and our first speaker will be The Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (2016-2019). I look forward to announcing later this year a second campus guest speaker to offer an alternative viewpoint on this topic.
I have spoken often of my view that engaging with others respectfully, even and especially when discussing issues on which we disagree, is of paramount importance in fostering a healthy and productive society.
The goal of Compelling Perspectives is to explore a topic from different viewpoints and engage in constructive dialogue. The initial focus on national security is designed to offer the opportunity for a robust and engaging discussion.
