Lehigh University held its 156th Commencement May 18-19. 2024, with separate ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students at Goodman Stadium and a Baccalaureate at Packer Memorial Church.
On Saturday, May 18, Stephen S. Tang ’85G ’88 Ph.D. ’22P delivered the keynote address at the graduate Commencement and Doctoral Hooding Ceremony. Drawing on his own life journey, he told graduates that an unconventional path can lead to success. He said their career may be "full of surprises and exciting challenges, which only make sense to you."
On Sunday, May 19, Scott Willoughby '89, senior vice president of performance excellence for Northrop Grumman who played a pivotal role in the development of NASA’s James Webb space telescope, delivered the keynote address at the undergraduate Commencement. He encouraged graduates to "conquer success by discovering you first."
Also on Saturday, graduating students, along with their families and friends, filled Packer Memorial Church for an interfaith Baccalaureate ceremony featuring an address by Rachel Laser, president and CEO of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
