Tuition, fees for 2011-12 approved

Lehigh University’s Board of Trustees recently approved tuition and fee increases for the upcoming 2011-12 academic year.

In view of the continuing challenging economic climate, the university’s board is once again limiting the undergraduate tuition increase to 3 percent, which was the same rate of increase last year. This represents one of the smallest percentages of increase in tuition in four decades, and it is expected to be among the lowest tuition increases at colleges and universities across the country.

For the upcoming academic year, tuition will increase by $1,180, from $39,480 to $40,660. The total cost of attending Lehigh as an undergraduate, including tuition, typical room and board charges, and the undergraduate technology fee, will be approximately $51,800.

The university remains committed to making a Lehigh education affordable and accessible by containing costs while continuing to keep a Lehigh student’s educational experience the paramount focus of resource stewardship.

Lehigh is also committed to providing financial assistance to students in need. For the coming academic year, Lehigh is setting aside $64 million for the undergraduate financial aid pool—the highest level ever.
