Reunion/Commencement is right around the corner
With the calendar about to flip to May, our current senior class is heading into the home stretch of their Lehigh careers—remember how that felt?—and they’re getting ready for the next phase in their lives.
In an effort to welcome these new graduates into the Lehigh alumni family, I strongly urge you to roll out the welcome wagon and invite them to regional club events in your area this spring and summer.
Speaking of welcoming new Lehigh family members, planning for summer send-offs for the newest incoming freshmen class—Lehigh’s Class of 2015—will start soon, so stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks. The Rally and adoption of this year’s class by Lehigh’s Class of 1965 in August will have an extra-special energy, because the Class of 2015 will graduate the same year that Lehigh will celebrate its sesquicentennial, the 150th anniversary of its founding by Asa Packer in 1865.
If you simply want to welcome the Class of 2011 in person into the ranks of Lehigh alumni, then there’s still time to register for Reunion Weekend on May 20-22. But please make reservations now for Reunion Weekend, because it’s just around the corner.
With Lehigh’s 2011 Commencement fast approaching, it’s important to note that a key member of our team, Jill Anderson ’91, is “graduating” from Lehigh. Jill is leaving Lehigh after 12 years of service in the Alumni Association to begin an exciting new phase in her career as Drew University’s Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Parent Programs. Over the past dozen years, Jill has touched our lives and those of countless alums. In 1999, she joined the alumni relations staff as assistant director of alumni clubs. In 2008, she assumed responsibility for reunion, clubs, and affinity programs. Under her leadership, our programs and events have grown in size, scope, and impact, and thanks to Jill’s efforts, countless numbers of alumni are an active part of the Lehigh family again.
If you want to wish her well as she enters the next chapter of her career, please e-mail her at Jill.Anderson@lehigh.edu.
Hope to see you in May at the Reunion.
Robert W. Wolfenden
Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations
