Dear Members of the Lehigh Community,
It is with deep sadness that I write to share the passing of Alice P. Gast, who served as the 13th president of Lehigh University from 2006-2014. She passed away on October 27 after a nearly four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Alice led Lehigh through a period of remarkable transformation and growth. She advanced the university’s academic and research profile and strengthened global engagement. Her leadership paved the way for advancements and helped shape the future of Lehigh.
Beyond her professional achievements, Alice will be remembered with great respect and gratitude for her intellect, deep commitment to Lehigh’s mission and passion for education.
Please join me in keeping Alice’s family and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time.
I invite you to read more about Alice’s legacy.
