Friday, April 22: “Culture, Communication, China”

The Global and Social Change Initiative presents a symposium with addresses by Liu Kang, professor of Chinese Cultural Studies at Duke University, on “Globalization and Cultural Trends in China,” and by Zhao Yuezhi, Canada Research Chair in the Political Economy of Global Communication at Simon Fraser University, on “Communication in China: Political Economy, Power and Conflict.”

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 303 of the University Center.

The Africana studies program presents an address by James Braxton Peterson of Bucknell University.

Wednesday, April 27: “Artificial Photosynthesis: A Chemical Engineering Approach to Combating Global Warming”

The department of chemical engineering presents an address by Richard I. Masel, professor of chemical engineering at the University of Illinois.

The Chinese Bridge Project presents an address by Jack Liu, associate professor of architecture at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China.

Thursday, April 28: Dedication of the Lehigh Chinese Bridge

The Chinese Bridge Project presents Qingming, the Clear and Bright Festival, and the dedication of the Chinese Bridge.

The event begins at 4:30 p.m. at the entrance to the student art park, off Upper Sayre Drive on South Mountain. It is cosponsored by the office of interdisciplinary programs in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Thursday, April 28: A Screening of Race to Nowhere
The College of Education hosts a public screening of the independent film, Race to Nowhere, followed by a panel discussion.
The evening begins at 7 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium. Tickets are available online. Information can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
