Advancing sustainability
Anyone in the campus community interested in playing a role in advancing sustainability at Lehigh is encouraged to participate in a series of upcoming workshops aimed at creating a specific action plan in order to meet that goal.
The four sustainability workshops—held from 8 a.m. to noon on Feb. 1, Feb. 11, Feb. 16 and Feb. 22—will start out with a basic understanding of sustainability and progress to short, intermediate, and long-term action plans with the ultimate goal of bringing Lehigh to full sustainability.
Faculty, staff and students interested in attending are asked to participate in all four workshops and must RSVP by Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011. Following the workshops, participants can take on leadership roles in the enactment and integration of the sustainability goals at Lehigh.
“With the hiring of Lehigh’s first sustainability coordinator, Delicia Nahman, we are looking to bring everyone together who is committed to a more sustainable campus—and begin an action plan to achieve that,” says Peggy Plympton, co-chair of the Lehigh Environmental Advisory Group (LEAG).
Nahman, who says she is “impressed by what Lehigh has already done to conserve, recycle and save,” will co-host the workshops with LEAG.
