Nathan Urban has been reappointed to a second five-year term as Lehigh’s provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, recognizing his steady leadership, strategic vision and key role in advancing the university’s academic and research mission during a pivotal period of growth and change.
Since joining Lehigh in 2020, Provost Urban has guided the university through a period of profound challenge and transformation. He chaired Lehigh’s COVID-19 response team, played a central role in the Inspiring the Future Makers strategic planning process and oversaw the expansion of the university’s research, helping position Lehigh as a growing force in global scholarship and innovation.
An accomplished neurobiologist and experienced academic leader, Urban came to Lehigh from the University of Pittsburgh, where he served as vice provost for graduate studies and strategic initiatives. His leadership at Lehigh has been marked by a strategic focus and a deep commitment to both academic excellence and community well-being.
