Lehigh Engineering Reflects on 50 Years of Coeducation

A special issue of the Rossin College’s research magazine, Resolve, highlights pioneering faculty and a new generation of Lehigh women excelling in engineering research and scholarship.

“It isn’t easy being the first person to do something. In the case of Patti Ota, Lehigh’s first woman engineering faculty member, that fact is an understatement.”

That’s the opening line of “Unfinished Business,” the feature story in the Fall 2021 edition of Resolve, the Rossin College’s research magazine.

This special issue, part of Lehigh’s Soaring Together celebration of Lehigh women and 50 years of coeducation, traces back the journey of women engineering faculty members, looks at current efforts to increase representation, and tells the inspiring stories of promising students, dedicated mentors, and successful alumnae.
