HEALTH, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY BUILDING

The Future of Interdisciplinary Research at Lehigh

Top research universities need top research facilities, and Lehigh's new Health, Science, and Technology (HST) building will provide just that - a cutting-edge interdisciplinary space for collaborative research, as well as a home for our new College of Health, which launched this fall.

"The biggest and the most difficult problems in the world don't respect disciplinary boundaries. To solve them, we need to bring together people from different disciplines, with different expertise and different backgrounds, to work together," said Provost Nathan Urban, senior vice president for academic affairs.

At 190,000 square feet, HST will offer an openspace, collaborative research environment and a welcoming gateway to the university for the South Bethlehem community. The innovative new facility is slated to open in fall of 2021.

The steel frame of HST was recently completed with a beam-topping in September. In just eight days, more than 4,400 signatures were collected from Lehigh alumni and friends and added to the commemorative beam. Watch the steel topping online at: gocampaign.lehigh.edulhst.

"Transparency inherently leads to accessibility. I think at a time like this, making science as accessible as possible is really important!'
