Health Center monitoring H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) outbreak

The Lehigh University Health Center is closely monitoring the swine influenza A (H1N1) outbreak that was recently declared a public health emergency by the U.S. Acting Health and Human Service Secretary. At this point, there are no reported cases within the state of Pennsylvania.
Updated information on the disease is available on the Lehigh University Health Center Web site at http://www.lehigh.edu/health/.

The CDC provides transcripts of teleconference briefings on the public health investigation of swine influenza. Please visit www.cdc.gov/swineflu/press to read recent postings of teleconference transcripts.
The World Health Organization has also posted information on swine flu at www.who.int/csr/disease/swineflu/en/index.html.
According to reports, swine influenza A (H1N1) symptoms are similar to those of typical flu. To view a list of these symptoms and for information on how to prevent contracting the flu, please go to http://www.lehigh.edu/health/flu.shtml.
The Lehigh University Health and Wellness Center will continue to monitor the situation and update the campus community as necessary. If, in the meantime, you experience flu-like symptoms, students should contact the Lehigh University Health and Wellness Center at 610-758-3870. Staff and faculty members should contact their family physician.
