Bringing Lehigh to you

Whoosh! For all of us in Alumni Relations, the past month has been a whirlwind. Literally, in terms of dealing with Hurricane Irene, which temporarily derailed the First-Year Rally and other orientation events, and figuratively, as we happily welcomed back more than 1,500 alumni to events such as the tailgate kickoff celebrating 40 years of undergraduate women at LehighHomecoming, and Young Alumni Reunion. As always the energy and Lehigh spirit were amazing!

What’s that, you say? You’re not able to make it back to campus? Then take advantage of some of the ways we are working to bring Lehigh to you.

  • Mountain Talks. This new series of webinars brings you insights from Lehigh faculty on current topics—and you don’t even have to leave your desk. The short online presentations, scheduled during the lunch hour, are a great way to learn something new and connect with Lehigh. The latest offering “Post-Invasion Corruption in Iraq” will be offered on Oct. 12 by Dr. Frank Gunter. (Sign up now!) Previous offerings—“The American Space Program” with Dr. Gary DeLeo and “Saving Our Schools” with Dr. George White—are archived online, so watch anytime.
  • Regional events. You may have noticed we have started to use a consolidated regional e-mail to share news about events around the country. The format allows us to provide you with a convenient “at-a-glance” update for your area every other week, as well as a peek at other events coming soon. Please let us know what you think of the regional format, as we continue to fine-tune it.
  • Alumni Career Solutions Webinars. Our career experts offer a number of online coaching programs, and will soon unveil the new Alumni Career Speakers Series featuring the expertise of fellow Lehigh graduates. Visit the calendar to sign up for the online Job Search and Career Management course, or apply to present as a speaker for the new program today.

Plus, stay tuned in for information about the upcoming Lehigh/Lafayette telecasts nearest you.

We hope you will take the opportunity to get a taste of the Lehigh experience, no matter where you are!
