The series enters its third year as a forum for civil discourse on issues of societal importance.

Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive Global and founder of the Huffington Post, and Steve Wozniak, technology entrepreneur and co-founder of Apple, will speak on artificial intelligence (AI) in Lehigh University’s 2025-26 Compelling Perspectives series.

Arianna Huffington will visit Lehigh on September 23 at 5 p.m. in Baker Hall at Zoellner Arts Center. President Joseph J. Helble ’82 and Huffington will participate in a discussion focusing on the human side of AI, delving into its impact on humanity and who is responsible for shaping its future. A brief Q&A with the audience will follow.

Arianna Huffington

During her tenure at the Huffington Post, of which Huffington was editor-in-chief until 2016, the site won a Pulitzer Prize in 2012 and was the first digital-native outlet to receive the award. She has been named to Time magazine's list of the world’s 100 most influential people and the Forbes most powerful women list.

“I am pleased to welcome these distinguished speakers to campus to discuss AI at this pivotal moment,” said President Joseph J. Helble ’82. “Their insights and perspectives should provide helpful context as we all consider and explore the benefits and challenges the rapidly expanding use of artificial intelligence offers for society.”

AI: Innovation, Responsibility and the Future We Shape

This year’s theme, AI: Innovation, Responsibility and the Future We Shape, focuses on the rapid advancement of AI and what the future holds in an AI-powered world.

Artificial intelligence is advancing at an unprecedented pace, reshaping industries, economies and society itself. While its potential for innovation and progress is undeniable, AI also presents complex challenges—ethical dilemmas, workforce disruptions, privacy concerns and questions about bias and accountability. As AI development is largely driven by corporate and business interests, who bears the responsibility for ensuring it serves humanity’s best interests?

Discussions will examine the opportunities AI presents while confronting the challenges that arise when profit and progress move faster than policy and ethical considerations.

The Compelling Perspectives series launched in 2023 as a forum for civil discourse on critical issues affecting society. The program was designed to amplify varying viewpoints on timely topics shaping our world.

Advance registration is required for this event. Space is limited; please register by September 15 to reserve your spot.
